Maggie L. Wood's The Princess Mage a semi-finalist for Moonbeam Children's Book Award

Maggie L. Wood's book The Princess Mage (Sumach Press) is one of five semi-finalists for the young adult fiction category of the new independent publishers' Moonbeam Children's Book Award.

The other semi-finalists are The Smell of Paint by Sheryl McFarlane (Fitzhenry & Whiteside); Race to Eagle Mountain by S. M. Schofield (Wine Press Group); The Alchemist’s Dream by John Wilson (Key Porter Books); and Kristin’s Wilderness: A Braided Trail by Garrett Conover (Raven Productions).

A winner (gold medalist) and runner-up (silver medalist) will be announced in each category during the week of October 15-19, and remaining semifinalists will become bronze medallists.

A formal awards presentation will be held on Saturday, November 3, in conjunction with the 2007 Children's Humanities Festival in Chicago.
